Sir,
Through the columns of your widely circulated daily, I would like to ventilate my views about corporal punishment at schools.
Conventionally, students are given physical punishment for behaving ill with their classmate or teachers at school. They are also punished if they do not prepare their lessons regularly. But some teachers torture the students both physically and mentally, so harshly that the students are crippled or mentally shocked. Such rigorous punishment by teachers for their little offence is not tenable. To discipline them, teachers need not adopt the rule of the rod. But they should treat the students with love and affection. I think students and teachers relationship will be like a friend and even a good mentor. If the teachers motivated the students, they will be good students. Corporal punishment is not a good way to cater to law and order in the school campus. Rather a pleasant camaraderie must be developed between the teacher and the students.
I on behalf of all people, would like to request you to published an editorial in this regard. So the wisdom of the teachers may be awakened.
