Sir,

     Through the columns of your esteemed daily I seek to express my deep concern about the harmful effects of plastic bags and cups.

      Now-a-days plastic bags and cups are extensively used. But few of us are aware of their dreadful effects. They are not bio-degradable. Many people used the plastic bags and cups and they throw that harmful things anywhere. For this reason, destroy the fertility of soil. If we try to destroy them by fire they produce poisonous gas and pollute environment. The new Plastic Waste Rules, 2011 has imposed a ban on manufacture and use of some plastic items including carrybags but it has not yet been enforced.

             Therefore, I requested the government to take necessary steps to enforce the law. The Pollution Control Board should also launch a massive campaign against the use of plastic carrybags and cups.
